Employment Statistics Prove Positive For Social Workers

The realm of human welfare or social work has some particular specialties that include primarily children, family, education, public health, physical and psychological well-being and drug addiction. It has been seen that the scale of job prospects related to social welfare has only increased over the past years, this has even been validated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics that a social worker had around 642,000 jobs in hand back in 2008. The graph has certainly aggravated presently.

Since majority of individuals working in the circle of social betterment has some concerns regarding the industry they wish to be associated with, it has even been evaluated that around 54% of individuals were then working in the health and human welfare industries while the remaining 31% worked in government sponsored agencies at various levels. With this entire report of job opportunities available for people working in the social development continuum, it explicitly indicates that job prospects are at no dearth, when it comes to looking for a stable and financially secure professional career.

The nature of a profession such as social welfare services is such that employees are assigned to work in cities as well as suburbs. It is expected for a social welfare employee to find a job in rural vicinities, as the space to exhibit their professional concerns and skills is more extensive as compared to an urban area, which is already quite developed. This indicates that social welfare is a profession, which comes with a lot of responsibilities and challenges.

Earlier, it was believed that not all specialist areas of social betterment thrived in terms of job opportunities, and not all offered the same amount of professional working security. However, today, all areas of social work are increasing job opportunities, particularly by the private social welfare organizations. In fact, the increase of employment in this industry has been around 22% which is promising. This is likely to increase with the time owing to the aging child boomer populace which will, over the span of time, demand better health and social services.

Apart from the physical stability, mental & psychological stability and drug addiction are areas which are rapidly augmenting with job prospects. An increase of 20% has also been predicted by specialists as there is going to be a strong demand of services to counter such deteriorating circumstances.

Last but not the least, children and family along with education are areas that are actually excelling areas in the field of human welfare and betterment. In order to bring about a change, an anchor lies in the hand of social services, augmenting the protection for children and their families while at the same time, emphasizing on the local prevalence of education is what is going to instigate a progressive developmental scale in the society. Some of the specialized areas elaborated on indicate the fields that can be explored by social welfare employees to bring a progressive change in the society.

Utopian Society Is Not Ideal

Among the discoveries that occurred then was that of the New World by European explorers, and the curiosity concerning these voyages of exploration plus the advent of the printing press meant that printed records of the Renaissance explorations were [soon] everywhere available, and thus Utopia as a product of this exploratory context is undeniable. This is apparent in that its central character is a sailor and that his impressions of the imaginary island of Utopia constitute most of Mores text, which is a cross between travel narrative and social satire. The above quotation from Utopia depicts the Utopian lifestyle, one that has benefits and drawbacks, and the references to work, corruption, and poverty highlight key aspects of any debate considering whether or not one would like to live in Mores Utopia.

The above extract begins with the lack of distractions that might otherwise keep Utopians from their work, but the use of evading and usual convey the familiarity and routine that accompanies employment in Utopia. Everyone has a job, which is a comforting thought in light of the levels of unemployment and the resultant poverty existing in sixteenth- and twenty-first- century England. Elsewhere, we learn that Utopians, of both sexes, are guaranteed work that is suited to both ability and interest: of the other foresaid crafts every man learneth one. And the women [] and if any person [] be desirous to learn also another, he [] occupieth whether he will. However, this employment system is very regimented. Each day begins at four oclock in the morning and consists of three hours of work, followed by lunch and a two hour break, then another three hours of work, then supper, and then everyone goes to bed at eight oclock, and eight hours they give to sleep. In this light the Utopians strict workdays seem more like that of prisoners than of citizens of a democratic nation like Utopia purports to be.

The extract also lists the lack of distractions and vices in Utopia, such as alehouses, brothels, hiding places, and places for secret meetings. Clearly, the rulers of Utopia recognise alcoholism and adultery as dangerous threats to social order, and the absence of opportunities for drunken and licentious behaviour is evidence of the importance of strong family and marriage bonds in Utopia, or in other words, More [] makes family life the most important institution among the Utopians, with adultery being a potentially capital offence. Yet in spite of this firm image of family and marriage, the words no hiding places, no [] secret meetings and in full view of all convey a sense of exposure or surveillance. The latter quotation highlights the Utopians lack of privacy, which seems a high price to pay in order to be perceived as behaving in a respectable way. Thus, there seems to be very little choice but to conform to social rules.

The final sentence of the above extract paints a very attractive picture of the quality of life of the average Utopian in the fact that it there seems to be no poverty on the island. This is apparently because everyone share[s] everything equally, which refers to the Utopians distribution of private property, as is described elsewhere in the book: this they do freely without any benefit, taking nothing again of them to whom the things is given [] So the whole island is as it were one family or household. The Utopian distribution of wealth ensures that there is no poverty or beggary in Utopia and this is an admirable thing, which thus also criticises contemporary attitudes to material possessions, or in other words: Utopians not only do without money but also despise [] the symbols of wealth to which Europeans were so attached. However, such a system does not tolerate individuals desire for personal possessions and this intrudes on ones personal freedom, and so if this were enforced in a real community certainly many would resent having to give up such personal possessions and privileges.

In conclusion, Mores Utopia with its guarantee of jobs and its lack of vices and poverty has many attractions, but it is doubtful that any modern person would want to live there in light of its regimented schedules and its demands on our personal freedoms and possessions. Moreover, Utopia clearly criticises the contemporary social values and practices of Mores time, and in this sense it is difficult to come to any certain judgements as to how seriously More meant the book as a blueprint for a realistic alternative society.

Online Recruitment – The Preferred Employment Route of Stores

Surveys conducted by independent agencies show that a whopping 80 % of the graduates rely solely on online resources to search for jobs. This clearly shows the amazing popularity that online recruitment enjoys among potential employees. It is clear from the above figure that businesses who are investing in newspaper advertising to recruit graduate talent for their organizations are clearly wasting their time and money.

In another study recently conducted by an employment agency a whopping 89% of the surveyed candidates stated that they only search for jobs online and nowhere else. They have gained a clear impression that major companies use online resources exclusively for all their recruitment needs. Newspaper advertisements for jobs, they feel, do not reflect the best jobs available in the recruitment sector.

Specialist recruitment agencies claim that the number of hits they get on their online recruitment sites have increased tremendously over the last three to four years. Respondents also claim to use social networking sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook to look up corporate website updates. Fresh vacancies are usually put up by corporate on their Facebook account site through their status updates before they are made public through other sources.

Even professionals prefer searching online recruitment sites for better openings. Sectors such as Retail, Finance and Costumer Service professionals depend on online resources to search for better job prospects rather than look up vacancy sections in newspapers. In fact the tremendous response to online recruitment sites from professionals has forces some portals to launch specialized boards that list vacancies exclusively of jobs pertaining to a particular sector or category. The EngineerBoard launched by Jobsite in 2006, is one such classic example.

There are many benefits of advertising online, especially for professional job openings. Reduced costs of recruitment and less time taken to complete the hiring process are two of the major advantages. Apart from these, the application and selection process is extremely streamlined and consistent. These factors contribute highly to the success of online recruitment campaigns. Get That Second Job Interview

Throughout an economic depression jobs are tough to come by, and job selection interviews are few and far between, so each stage of the job process becomes more key. Initially you deliver your carefully written resume, after which you hope to get an initial interview, but there is no assurance these days. What this means is that you have to make certain your certification for the employment are what are required, and that your resume objective will stand out from the majority of others. The objective of every stage of the employment process is to take you to the next stage, so the objective of the resume is to get you to the initial interview. That very first job interview has the objective of getting you a second interview, and so on. There may or may not be extra job interviews even after this, depending on the organization and the job itself.

So, stage 1 is to get your resume into the job interview stack. Precisely how can you accomplish this? There are a handful of obvious tips here that have to be pointed out. To start with, verify your spelling and grammar, several times. It won’t hurt to have a good friend to examine your resume looking for spelling blunders, or grammatical errors, as it is very easy to miss these your self when you have been looking at the same document for hours. You’d probably be surprised at how many individuals send out resumes with glaringly obvious mis-spellings in them, a certain way to hit the reject stack. Your resume ought to be as accurate as possible. Do not provide any misleading information or something that is incorrect. Extending the truth is not a good idea, and it could easily backfire on you.

Responding with thank you letters is a good way of continuing to keep your name in front of the company staff, and obviously, you can send your thanks after each phase of the interview procedure. This requires writing to each particular person who has interviewed you, and you should make each correspondence personal and a little different to all the others. Now, it used to be that the letters were always sent by mail, but nowadays e-mail are used more often, and it is becoming the more appropriate type of connection. You could always ask the secretary, or the particular person who set up your employment interview just how the company feels about receiving emails, and go from there. Obviously, you must check the spelling and the sentence structure for each thank you correspondence also.
